The syllabus of GATE (CS/IT) is having nine technical subjects along with General Aptitude and Engineering & Discrete Maths. The weightage of General Aptitude is 15 marks. The Engineering Maths and Discrete Maths weightage are around 14-15 marks. According to the analysis of previous year GATE papers 20-25%, questions are theory questions which are of one marks, whereas, 70-75% questions are of a Numerical type or need some analysis and calculations. The difficulty level of questions is moderate. GATE Exam Pattern for CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) is similar to that of Information Technology Engineering. The question paper is based on engineering mathematics that carries 13% weightage, a general aptitude that carries 15% weightage and subject questions will have rest 72% weightage. The types of questions that you can expect in GATE 2018 exam are:
MCQ or Multiple Choice Questions: This type of question will have 4 options and would contain a total of 1 or 2 marks. The candidate has to select the correct answer from the 4 options. Numerical Answer Questions: In these types of questions, the candidate will need to enter the answer and no options are provided. The candidates here are allowed to use virtual keypad in order to answer the questions.
