Hi,
When its about B.tech in any stream NIT Rourkela comes out to be the best.When you say about Ceramic Engineering in NIT Rourkela and look upon the past records , you would not be much satisfied. But with the changing scenario, Ceramic engineering is doing pretty well and its demand is also increasing day by day.
Although there was a time when placements in department of ceramic engineering was inappropriate, but now with time and changing scenario, number of core companies like Vedanta, TRL, OCL etc. visit NIT Rourkela to recruit. You have to go for Gate examination as it is basic criteria for doing M.Tech in engineering college. This criteria is applicable for SVNIT also. So, all the best for future.

Hello Sandeep,
It's very nice to see your enthusiasm and dream of doing Ph.D. You have already won half the battle. For Ph.D, many universities have introduced an exam to accept only suitable candidates. Hence, you need to appear and pass this exam. In addition, it's always best to do research in the same University from where you did your PG. You should begin by searching the guides available and approaching them to accept you as student. You also should have some probable topics for research. That's it. Best wishes.

Hello dear,
The cut-off for the mechanical branch in M.Tech for general category is 34.7.
For OBC, it is 31.2.
For SC/ST/PH, it is 23.1.
