there are so many PSU jobs available for you once you passed gate exam with a good score. check out the PSU company of your respected branch on the internet. you will get better information about it.

For GATE you have to read and learn graduation topics from engineering. Many candidates join test preparation institutes to practice more questions and understand more deeply on topics on which GATE is based on. I would recommend you that if you are in engineering course then try to prepare during college phase. If you have already passed your graduation then you can join test preparation institutes to brush your basics and practice more on topics.

Honestly speaking if really want to go to very good college then try to give GATE and score better. These days there are number of private engineering colleges in market. But quality of education is not good in majority of colleges. Therefore, I would highly recommend you to give GATE examination and then get admitted to any top tier college for M.Tech. program.

GATE is a national level exam that you can take either to pursue M.Tech/MS in India or to get a govt job in the PSUs like DRDO, BEL, BHEL etc. Many good colleges take GATE score for M.Tech or MS admissions and many govt companies and institutions take GATE score for freshers' recruitment.
