There are three types of questions asked in the GATE exam namely Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), Numerical Answer Type Questions (NAT). Every question will be of either 1 or 2 marks. 2 marks question generally more difficult and lengthier. Candidates must attempt mock test and Pervious year GATE question papers to get an idea that which question will be awarded with 2 marks.

Candidates need not attempt all questions in GATE exam. Candidates will be awarded 0 marks for not attempted questions. For wrong answers there will be a negative marking of one third in MCQs.

Yes, Candidates will be given a correction window to change/ modify the already filled details in GATE application form. Candidates can change the subjects for an additional fee during the correction window. Candidates will not be able edit any detail after the correction window is closed.

Candidates must know that by doing so their application form will be marked DEFECTIVE. Candidates will be intimated by email, SMS or phone call from your respective Zone to RECTIFY your DEFECT (by uploading a new photograph). Candidates will be given chances for rectification up to the deadline, beyond which your application will either be considered as PROVISIONAL or REJECTED.

Candidate must upload the photo ID with old name along with an affidavit. Otherwise, his/her application will either be considered as PROVISIONAL or REJECTED. Also, he/she must carry an affidavit along with the photo ID to the examination hall.

Yes, Candidates will be given a correction window to change/ modify the already filled details in GATE application form. Only after the last date for application submission, a request for the change of examination city will be entertained against additional payment till the correction window is open.

Yes, Candidates will be given a correction window to change/ modify the already filled details in GATE application form. The application correction window will be activated on November 6, 2024. Candidates can change their category against a fee of INR 500. Candidates will not be able edit any detail after the correction window is closed.

Yes, any candidate can opt for the subject of his/her wish, however it is advised to candidates that they should choose the subject based on the grounds of their graduation and the course they want to study after clearing the GATE exam

Candidates are given free choice to choose the GATE papers, however candidates should choose the papers which align with the qualifying degree. E.g; If a candidate have done B.Tech. in Civil Engineering he/she should choose CE GATE paper.
