For Indian universities, all you need is the GATE/JAM scores. For universities abroad, your GPA, GRE/TOEFL scores and research projects are very important. For this purpose, start doing projects under a professor in your department or in other universities/research institutions. Genetic engineering refers to the direct manipulation of DNA to alter an organisms characteristics (phenotype) in a particular way. Genetic engineering, sometimes called genetic modification, is the process of altering the DNA in an organism's genome. This may mean changing one base pair, deleting a whole region of DNA, or introducing an additional copy of a gene. It may also mean extracting DNA from another organisms genome and combining it with the DNA of that individual. So, if you have a strong command on biology you would be easily able to do it. Just have a strong will. Where there is a will there is a way.
