Admission to both courses is based on entrance exam scores followed by counselling. No, GMR Institute of Technology offers entrance-based admission to its UG and PG courses. To be eligible for admission candidates are required to apply and appear for the accepted exam. The college accepts Andhra Pradesh EAMCET and Andhra Pradesh ECET exam followed by counselling for BTech  and Andhra Pradesh PGECET and GATE exam followed by counselling for M.Tech Additionaly, candidates are required to fulfil the basic eligibility criteria set by the college.

GMR Institute of Technology - GMRIT has below criteria for taking admissions to it's various courses:CoursesEligibilityB.E. / B.TechCandidate must have completed diploma/B.Sc. in relevant field with 50% marks (for general) and 40% marks (for SC/ST).M.E./M.TechCandidate must have passsed B.E./B.Tech. in relevant stream and obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of reserved category candidates) from an AICTE/UGC approved institution recognised by the Government of Andhra Pradesh as equivalent thereto. Final year appearing students may also apply on provisional basis.
