You can get admission in this college only after clearing Diploma entrance exam. You cannot get admission directly in this government polytechnic college. So, apply for the entrance first.

Lateral entry in second year is entirely dependent whether the college is offering the same or not

Eligibility Criteria for Admission:
Candidate must have passed Diploma/ Graduation from a recognized board/ college/ university.
Or,
Candidate must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board and must have 2 years of working experience.
Or,
Candidate must have secured minimum 60% marks in Fire and Safety 6 month's course (only for students studying under Continuing Education Program of Government Polytechnic, Mumbai).

There is only Advanced certificate in industry safety not advanced diploma program and it is offering in continuing educational programme in mechanical engineering department. Class 10th pass, class 12/ITI/NCVT passed is eligibility criteria. Course duration is 12 months. Fees structure is INR. 32,600.Similar course is Certificate course in Fire and industrial safety. Fees structure INR. 17,300.All the Best for your future.

It's very nice to hear from you are interested in doing your graduation in food technology from ICT Mumbai. However I could not lay my hands on any paper or information where ICT talks of lateral admission. It is understood that it is not allowed. But if you reside in Mumbai then I would advise you to go to Matings and find out from the institute itself. Your 80% is sufficient for your eligibility, and the only thing you need to consider is your polytechnic exam the lesser the rank the more is better. Try to score under 1000, then you will be able to get government college of your choice not the on the basis of availability .
