Moreover, the university also offers emergency phones for students that automatically connect to the police patrolling at the university campus. Students also receive text messages from the university in case of emergencies such as weather conditions, and many more.

Governors State University offers accommodation to students at the Prairie Place which is the GovState’s residence hall. The residence offers students with an inclusive, safe, active, and supportive environment. The students are offered amenities such as a full-furnished four-bedroom apartment along with suite facilities as well. The Prairie Place has four different housing units and each has a different price. Students living on-campus enjoy the benefits of saving transportation time, getting more actively involved in campus programs and activities, meeting diverse groups of people, and enjoying free facilities as well.

Scholarships offered by Governors State University do not remain open all year, but are open in cycles. Foundation Scholarships have two cycles in a year, one in Spring and one in Fall. The applications for scholarships to be awarded in the Fall open in the Spring semester and vice versa.
