GPAT Syllabus

Candidates can check and download the GPAT syllabus from the official NTA website. There are 5 five sections in GPAT 2024 exam namely Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Allied Subjects, Pharmaceutics & Allied Subjects, Pharmacognosy & Allied Subjects, Pharmacology & Allied Subjects, and other subjects. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) the exam conducting body of the GPAT exam decides and releases the GPAT exam pattern. The GPAT exam syllabus will also released by NBEMS. The GPAT official notification revealed the updated GPAT exam pattern which remained the same this year as well.

The GPAT notice and curriculum are exclusively available in English on the official website. Since English is also the language of the exam, students are asked to study exclusively in English. However, you can use a translation programme to translate English to Hindi if you just want the curriculum in Hindi.

The GPAT 2025 exam syllabus will be released by NBEMS. GPAT exam pattern was last modified in the academic year 2016-17, preceding which the examination was conducted twice a year. At present, GPAT exam is conducted once a year in computer-based format.Since this year exam conduting authority have changed hence we may expect a change in the syllabus this year also. It will be released in the official notification. 

Right preparation strategy and availability of right study material is the key to prepare for the GPAT exam. When in graduation, candidates are suggested start devoting sometime to GPAT exam preparation from the beginning. The difficulty level of the exam will seem easy to the aspirants when you start practising GPAT mock tests.

Candidates can prepare topics such as Bio-pharmaceutics, Bio-availability and bio-equivalence, Biopharmaceutical Statistics under Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics subjects for GPAT 2023. Other topics in Pharmacodynamics include Mechanism of drug action, Receptors, classification and drug-receptor interactions, combined effects of drugs, factors modifying drug actions, principle of absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs. Principles of basic and clinical pharmacokinetics.

Some of the important topics that are covered under Pharmaceutical Management in the GPAT exam are Introduction to management, Planning and forecasting, organisation, Research management, Inventory management, Communication, Marketing research, Leadership and motivation, Human resource and development (HRD), Gatt, World trade organisation (WTO) and trade-related intellectual property rights (trips), Standard institutions and regulatory authorities.

Under the organic Chemistry section, topics such as Different classes of compounds, General principles, Different aromatic classes of compounds, Aromaticity & Chemistry of aromatic compounds, Protection & deprotection of groups, Amino acids & proteins, Bridged rings, Kinetic & thermodynamic control, Stereochemistry, Heterocyclic Chemistry Carbonyl Chemistry Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, Pericyclic reactions can be prepare to gain good score in the exam.

Questions from important topics such as Composition & physical States of Matter Colligative Properties, Thermodynamics Refractive index, Ionic equilibrium, Solutions, Electrochemistry are seen in the exam. Candidates are advised to prepare these topics thoroughly. The GPAT Organic Chemistry Syllabus comprise of topics such as Different classes of compounds, Protection & deprotection of groups, Aromaticity & Chemistry of aromatic compounds, Different aromatic classes of compounds, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, Carbonyl Chemistry etc.

A candidate's aptitude is tested on the basis of 19 prominent subjects from which questions are asked in the exam. These subjects are Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Organic Chemistry Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Anatomy, Pharmaceutical Management, Dispensing and Hospital Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Engineering subjects.

The GPAT syllabus generally comprises nineteen subjects. Questions from important topics of these subjects are generally seen in the exam as per the previous year trend. There are 5 five sections in GPAT 2024 exam namely Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Allied Subjects, Pharmaceutics & Allied Subjects, Pharmacognosy & Allied Subjects, Pharmacology & Allied Subjects, and other subjects. All the 19 topics are bifurcated among these 5 sections in the exam. There will be objective-type questions in the entrance exam.
