You should not have any confusion on your department. These days, lots of institutes are available to do the course. When you have a clear vision, so you can go directly into that particular department. Otherwise, they make you choose what they are offering. In graphics design, student mainly do effects with text and motion graphics. It is just a visual communication, photography and illustration. They basically Edit Photo, create logo, visual layout and page layout. In Visual effects, which is commonly known as VFX is used to make a visual world true.
