Usually students begin coaching a year before appearing in the exam or 9/10 months earlier. You should not depend on coaching but if you want to start this is the ideal time. As regards the batch, that will be told to you by coaching center.

Students applying should have successfully finished a Master of Arts in History or any equivalents course with minimum of 55% aggregate score. Beside M.A. Score some colleges conduct their entrance examination and a personal interview.
