To be eligible for the B.E. / B.Tech programme at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology (GNIT), candidates must meet certain academic qualifications. Aspiring students should have passed their 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. They need at least 45% marks in these subjects, or 40% marks for reserved category candidates. GNIT also offers lateral entry for Diploma holders and B.Sc graduates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Selection parameters for B.E./B.Tech courses at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology include entrance scores. A minimum of class 12 board with compulsory subjects being physics, math, and the third is to be attended from any group. GNIT considers valid marks scored in all entrance examinations including JEE Main, WBJEE, CEE AMPAI, where only the entry examination score counts. The eligibility criteria for BTech at GNIT IPU are different for regular and lateral entry programs. For the regular B.Tech program, candidates must have completed Class 12 from a recognised board with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and they must have passed each subject separately. Admission is based on the merit/rank in the JEE Main exam.
