HBTI, Kanpur was granted University status in 2016. It admitted students into UG programs through UPSEE 2016. Later on, it declared that from 2017 onwards, HBTI would admit students into UG programs through JEE Mains ranks. So, if you are looking forward to pursue your graduation from HBTI, then you should follow the steps mentioned below:
1. Apply for JEE Mains 2017 : The registrations are open since 1st December and will close on 31st December.
2. Score well in JEE Mains 2017: The paper is of 360 marks and 3 hours duration. A score of 170180 should land you in HBTI.

For mechanical upto 600 general rank, for other branches like CS, Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Chemical, general rank should be within 1000 and for non core branches like paint, plastic, leather, food, bio-chemical,oil it should be upto 3000.The filling choice should be in the order in which it is named. For paint it is upto 1800 general. For mechanical it's upto 600 for general, upto 1100 for OBC, upto 10000 for SC. For PH candidates it is around 40 k.

If you do not have valid score card of UPSEE then there is no chance of getting admission in HBTI.
You can try for other private colleges.

Hi Ayush,
I would rate NIT above HBTI. However, if possible go through the alumni speak section to get an idea what the alumni thinks about the institute.
