MBA in Hospital Management deals with study of managerial duties within a health care organisation whereas MBA in Hospitality Management is all about the administrative duties in a Hotel, restaurant or related work place. Hospitality management is a service sector, to provide services to patrons who arrive at such facility viz hotels, clubs, tourism spots, delegate handling, corporate offices and many related houses, and ;apart from a degree, passion to serve and organize is needed in case the employer is private and not government. Hospital management is something like a management with administration of a respective hospital, with respect to, but not limited, floor management, medicine and pharmacy handling, supplier management, hostels and residences regulations and many other related subsidiaries of any hospital. Most of the time these areas have managers of their own and not just one. Any degree would do if you aspire to aim at hospital administration, however they prefer it should be managerial course. The Apollo Institute of Hospital Administration offers Master Degree in Hospital Management two years full time programme. The eligibility criteria and other details are given below.
1. Eligibility: The aspirants of Master's Degree in Hospital Management should possess a Bachelors Degree (in 10+2+3 form) in any discipline (Except Fine Arts and Oriental Languages) from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks (for reservation category candidates 45%).
2. The selection is based on the marks secured in entrance test conducted by the Osmania University.
Qualifying mark in the entrance test is 25% for General and B.C category candidates. The entrance test paper is set for 100 marks, consisting of questions under sections (A) Test of reasoning, (B) Numerical ability, (C) English comprehension and usage, (D) Health and hospital knowledge, (E) Current Affairs.
3. Intake: Intake is limited to 60 seats in all, of which 30% Management quota.
4. Admission: 85% of the seats are reserved for local candidates. The remaining 15% seats are open
to local and non-local candidates in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions
(Regulation of Admission) Order 1974}. Candidates from Other States will be considered for admission, only after exhausting the above
Admission process: Admissions are strictly based on marks/ranks secured in MHM Entrance Examination conducted by Osmania University. Advertisement in this regard will be released in the last week of April or first week of May every year. A candidate needs to apply enclosing a DD for the required amount. The candidate can avail application form, prospectus, model question paper and admit card from office or the application form can be downloaded from our website www.apolloiha.ac.in. Filled in form along with DD for required amount needs to be sent before the due date to the principal.
