No, candidates can not take direct admission to HPU Shimla BTech programme. The admission takes place through the merit secured in HPCET and JEE Mains entrance exam. Thus candidates have to appear for the entrance exams to secure admission into the programme. Based on the applications received by the university, candidates are provided provisional admission. Class 12 results are only necessary to meet the eligibility criteria of the exam and do not provide direct admission.

The application process for HPU Shimla is completely online, as HPU Shimla admission takes place through the HPCET and JEE Mains entrance exams. The application for both the exams take place online and the admission process after the candidates has cleared either exam also takes place online. Thus, candidates have to make sure that they have completed all the online formalities of admission before appearing for offline counselling.

HPU BTech academic session starts after the admission process ends for both the HPCET and JEE Mains entrance exam. The counselling takes place in June for both the exams and the academic session starts in July. Candidates aspiring to take admission into BTech at HPU Shimla need to wait till the counselling process is over for all entrance exams for the academic calendar to start. Therefore, candidates might have to wait for a while after giving their entrance exam for admission into the programme.

HPU Shimla BTech admission starts with the JEE Mains admission process. The registrations for the JEE Main exam start in October and the first phase of the exam takes place in January, while registration for the second phase will start once the first phase ends.NTA has closed the JEE Main application form 2025. The JEE Main 2025 registration date session 1 was October 28 to November 22, 2024. The second session registration will star from January 31 and will remain open till February 24, 2025.

Yes, candidates can apply for an online BCom programme at HPU through the International Centre for Distance Education and Open Learning (ICDEOL). The university provides open and distance learning opportunities for most of its courses through this programme. Candidates can apply for admission in the centre to get do their BCom education in online mode. Candidates get a BCom degree from HPU after the completion of this course.

The new year cutoff for B.Tech in Civil Engineering for Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) is not mentioned but the admission criteria for getting into B.Tech programs entail the 10+2 or equivalent science qualification passed with minimum 50%, from any recognized university/boarding. For the general category the merit percentile was 476, for the round 2 it was 583 and 1354 for round 3 for other categories.
