Himalayan University

Himalayan University was established in 2013. It is a non-profit university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India under section 2f of UGC act 1956. The university was established with a vision to provide quality education to all in the state of Arunachal Pradesh and to develop and uplift the economy through higher education to raise the literacy rate that make up especially North Eastern part of India as well as all other parts of India. The university is a private university, established by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. The university has been awarded as Excellent Progressive University (North East) by AICTE in 12th World Education Summit 2018 Elets Awards held on 9 & 10 August 2018 at New Delhi.

Yes, Himalayan University offers distance education programs. The university offers various undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs through distance learning mode, including Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Master of Arts in English and History, and Master of Commerce. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission and the Distance Education Bureau of the UGC. The distance education programs offered by the university are designed to provide flexible learning opportunities to students who cannot attend on-campus studies, working professionals, and those who want to pursue higher education while balancing other commitments. 

Himalayan University provides various scholarships to its students. The scholarships are awarded based on various criteria such as academic performance, economic background, and merit. Some of the scholarships provided by the university are:1- Merit-Based Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students based on their academic performance. The quantum of Scholarship will be equivalent to 50% of the Tuition fee for the entire program.2- Need-Based Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students based on their economic background. The scholarship amount varies depending on the financial need of the student.3- Bhutan Scholarship Project: This scholarship program provides full scholarships to disadvantaged young women from rural Bhutan to pursue a 4-year BSc Environmental Management degree at Royal Thimphu College.4- Indian Scholarship Program: This scholarship program provides full scholarships to disadvantaged young women from the Himalayan region to study for undergraduate degrees.5- Mission Scholarship Fund: This scholarship fund exists to provide support for yoga students of all backgrounds and levels of proficiency.
