Hindusthan College of engineering and technology has a good reputation in Coimbatore and tamilnadu. You can definitely seek admission in this college. The placements of students of chemical engineering is good at the moment and I expect the trend to continue even after 4 years when you will pass out from this college. So do not worry about placements which are to happen 4 years from now but concentrate on getting admission and then doing well in the four years course so that you get placed in a good company.
I am attaching a link that will give you all the required information about this institution.

Mechanical engineering is one of the evergreen branches of engineering . Invariably everybody who is passing out gets placed in the industry, but then what will happen after 4 years is best left conjecture and not bother too much about it. You should prepare for the course and complete the course with good marks and be assured that job will be waiting for you.
Best wishes to you.

So, if you are talking about B.Sc agriculture hons., then it has a large scope as very less people are in this field do you definitely have chances to shine but not B.Tech agriculture engineering as mechanical engineering is big branch and B.Tech agriculture engineering is a sub branch so less scope.
