While roles in archaeology may prefer candidates with expertise in ancient history or archaeology, your specialisation in Modern India can still be valuable, especially for research, historical analysis, or archival work.Be sure to carefully check the eligibility criteria for the specific position, as

History is one of the subjects in Bihar BET 2025 such as ancient, medieval, modern, and world history. Its syllabus on ancient history is course-wise like Harappan civilization, Vedic age, Mauryan and Gupta empires, and early South Indian kingdoms. It has extensive coverage of medieval history like the Delhi Sultanate, Mughal Empire, Bhakti and Sufi movements, and regional kingdoms.Modern history areas include British rule in India, freedom movements, the social reformers, Gandhiji, Nehruji, and Subhas Chandra Bose, and in world history the Renaissance, Industrial Revolution, world wars, and decolonization.

Best book for history preparation for UPSC would differ in various phases of preparation. One will recommend "India's ancient past" by R.S. Sharma regarding ancient Indian history. With a CUET score of 224/800, your chances for admission to Delhi University (DU) for programs like B.A. (Hons) English, Political Science, or B.A. LL.B. may be limited, especially for more competitive colleges. However, you may still have opportunities in less competitive colleges or campuses within DU. Based on past trends, colleges with relatively lower cutoffs, like Zakir Husain College or Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, could be potential options, particularly for Political Science. For courses like B.A. (Hons) English, the cutoffs tend to be higher, especially in North Campus colleges.
