For getting admitted in top most IHM, you must need a rank above 2000 in IH-Bangalore. But, in Mumbai and Delhi, you must need a rank above 500.

It is always better to go ahead in the field that interests you rather than taking up something that would be in sync with your graduation. Therefore, if marketing interests you, I would go ahead and take up that as a specialization. Likewise for any other area.

Hotel management, in comparison to any other study has a good scope (as per the market research). An article was published in one of the leading newspapers that students placed from HM have 60% higher chances of getting well placed as compared to engineering graduates. I think a student should go for it if (he/she) has interest in the stream. Good number of companies places the student in foreign companies especially in Dubai.

Practically, you can't exactly compare the step programme and a Bachelors degree from any IHM for the following reasons:
1. The step programme is not considered valid as a graduate degree in a lot of universities both India and abroad.

3. A degree from IHM is a graduation degree so you can easily opt for any post graduate programs in the same or allied field.
4. The employment opportunities for an IHM graduate are more diverse

In order to get admission in MBA Tourism and Travel Management, students need to clear the entrance exam which is followed by group discussion and personal interview round. There are various universities like the Christ University, which admits students on the basis of their CAT/XAT/ CMAT/ ATMA/ GMAT or MAT score.
