The candidates will receive four marks from the authorities for each correct response. But for each wrong response, you will lose one mark. The HPCET questions carry negative markings, so applicants are urged to proceed cautiously.

For HPCET BTech paper, the candidates will have to attempt multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The topics and units to be studied for the exam are released through the HPCET syllabus. However, for BPharm/BPharm (Ayurveda), the candidates will have to attempt questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The details regarding the HPCET BTech paper is released through the exam pattern at the official website.

Candidates are advised to attempt as many questions as possible in the HPCET paper. However, since there is negative marking in the HPCET paper, the candidates should be careful while choosing their questions and the respective answers. A total of 150 multiple-choice questions have to be attempted from the paper. Out of the provided options, the candidates will have to select the correct option and submit it. To complete the examination, the candidates are allotted three hours.

As per the official HPCET exam pattern, the total duration of the entrance examination is 3 hours 15 minutes. The candidates will have to attempt 150 multiple-choice questions within the allotted time. No extra time will be provided to the candidates to complete the examination. Therefore, the candidates are advised to practice time-management so that they are able to complete the entrance examination within the allotted time limit.

HPCET paper will consist of three subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology. Each subject will have two sections i.e., Section A will have 20 questions while Section B will have 40 questions. In Section A, all 20 questions have to be compulsorily attempted, while 30 questions have to be attempted from Section B. A total of 150 objective multiple-choice questions have to be attempted within 3 hours 15 minutes. No extra time will allotted to the candidates to complete the entrance examination. All of the questions will be prepared as per the units and topics in the official HPCET syllabus.

No. HPCET will be held offline i.e., as a pen-and-paper-based test. Candidates will have to report to their allotted centre and attempt the examination in offline mode. HPCET consists of multiple-choice questions that have to be attempted in 3 hours 15 minutes. All of the answers have to be marked in OMR sheets. The entrance examination will not be held in any other mode.
