You need to write either CAT/XAT/GMAT/XGMAT/NMAT and secure the cutoffs in order to be eligible for an interview call to the institute. Ofcourse, good scores throughout academics will help quite a bit in terms of final score (weightages).

The best institutes for MBA in HR are XLRI. The cut off is 90 percentile in XAT. IIMs cutoff is above 95 percentile. TISS has its own exam TISSNET and SCMHRD score of around 70 in SNAP.
