Choosing a BA in Neuroscience at Columbia over and above a BS will ultimately impact your future in research or in medicine, but it never prevents success. A BA generally places more emphasis on critical thinking and communication that are important in any health care and policy setting; however, a BS most often gives a better preparatory base in technical and quantitative skills for laboratory research and advanced scientific study. If your goal is to pursue a career in medicine or research, consider complementing your BA with relevant experiences, such as internships or research projects, to enhance your qualifications.
