With a 66.83 percentile in JEE Mains and belonging to the ST category, you have a fair chance of securing a seat in some NITs or IIITs, particularly in less competitive branches or newer institutions. However, admission also depends on factors like the specific branch you prefer, state quota (home state or other state), and the cutoffs of individual institutes. Likely Options:1. NITs:- The newer and less competitive NITs like NIT Sikkim, NIT Mizoram, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Nagaland, or NIT Arunachal Pradesh might have a lower cut-off for ST candidates.   State quota can hugely increase your chances in your home state NIT.2.

Based on his 83 percentile in JEE Mains and a 59% in his PUC (Pre-University Course), it would look difficult to get admission in any top NITs or IIITs because they generally have very high cut-offs for admission. Considering this percentile and also if he is under the General category, there is still a chance to get into some new NITs or IIITs or to get to branches that have a little lesser preference. Here are few options: Newer NITs like NIT Goa, NIT Nagaland, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Puducherry would have lower cutoffs.IIITs like IIIT Sri City, IIIT Kalyani, or IIIT Dharwad could offer opportunities depending on the branch.Consider l

Having 83.79 percentile in JEE Mains under SC, you will be able to take viable admissions into the several colleges that come under the domain of NITs, IIITs, and AITs. Considering the fact of admission through NITs, you have fulfilled eligibility criteria by obtaining nearly about 60.09 percentiles among the cutoff score for SC students for 2024.You can look to apply to newer or less competitive NITs where cutoffs are generally lower. Your army background also might be advantageous in some institutions that have quotas for defense personnel. For IIITs, cutoffs vary so widely by institution and programme that checking the individual II

According to the EWS rank of 42286 collected from JEE Main, it seems nearly impossible to get entries into any of the top NITs or IIITs for the high branches like Computer Science, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. However, there remain some opportunities to claim the following criteria:Branch Preference: Admission might be achieved in those less popular branches like Civil Engineering or Biotechnology or Environmental Engineering, which have less competition, i.e., their cutoffs are lower than those for core branches.Home State Quota: If you are going to apply to NIT or IIIT in your home state, you could get an advantage as the c

With a JEE Mains rank of 101278, you can get admission to newer NITs like NIT Agartala, NIT Manipur, NIT Sikkim, or NIT Mizoram. However, you might get less popular branches like civil engineering or instrumentation. Your category (General, OBC, SC, ST) will also affect your chances. You can also look at state-level or private colleges with lower cut-offs. To decide, check last year's cut-offs on the JEE website, consider colleges near your home, and make smart choices during JoSAA counseling based on your rank and preferences.

With 89% in Class 12, admission to NITs or IIITs depends on your JEE Main score and rank. While your percentage is good, securing a seat in top NITs or IIITs will depend on your JEE rank. You may have better chances in less competitive branches or institutes.
