The institute has released the course-wise average packages. During 2023 placements, Dual Degree courses recorded the highest average package of INR 13.98 LPA. In 2022, the highest average package stood at INR 12 LPA and was offered to Dual Degree students. IIIT Kancheepuram offers three specialisations for MDes programme, Product Design, Mechanical System Design, and, Communication System Design. Admission to these specialisations is entrance-based and depends on candidates' performance in the Common Entrance Exam for Design, popularly known as CEED, conducted by IIT Bombay. Also before applying to the programme, candidates need to qualify the eligibility criteria: Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Design/ Architecture (under 10+2+4 years regular) with a minimum aggregate of 60% (55% aggregate in case of SC/ ST/ PwD) or equivalent grades in the qualifying degree.

IIIT Allahabad is a tier 1 institute and IIIT Lucknow is a tier 3 institute. The academic session of IIIT Lucknow was started in 2015 by the mentor Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad campus. IIIT Allahabad is an autonomous institute whereas public-private institutions run IIIT Lucknow. In case of placements, both colleges have recorded 100% placement. Moreover, the average package offered by IIIT Lucknow was INR 26 LPA whereas IIIT Allahabad average package stood at INR 30.68 LPA.
