IIM Ahmedabad does have a reservation policy in place for admissions to its MBA programme. This policy adheres to the guidelines laid down by the Government of India, which reserves 15% of seats for Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 27% for Other Backward Classes belonging to the "non-creamy" layer (NC-OBC). It is important to note that only the categories listed in the Central Government List on the final day of CAT registration are taken into consideration for the reservation.

The cutoff percentile for SC category candidates to get a call from IIM Ahmedabad varies each year based on various factors such as the number of seats available, the difficulty level of the CAT exam, and the number of candidates who appeared for the exam. As per the previous year's cutoffs, the target percentile for IIM Ahmedabad (IIM-A) can range from 99.6 to 99.8 percentile, for IIM Bangalore (IIM-B) it can range from 99.5 to 99.8 percentile, and for IIM Calcutta (IIM-C) it can range from 99.5 to 99.7 percentile.
