Both MBA and MCA are completely different fields. MCA will give you indepth knowledge about your subject which you have already done. It will help you enhance and get more information about your subject. If you're interested in your subject and would like to pursue it further, MCA is ideal for you. Different IIMs have different criterion for admission. Firstly it depends on CAT percentile. Some IIMs also consider eligibility on work. Give your best in CAT and then wait for call from IIM.

Yes, you have good chances of getting shortlisted into an IIM provided you score really well in the CAT. A score of 99 percentile and above is considered good enough to get an interview call. Good luck.

Step 1: Get a Ph.D in management in any of these areas of specialisation (Operations, Marketing, Finance, HR/OB, Information system, Economics, Public Policy) from a good university abroad or India. Step 2: Do excellent research work during the course of your Ph.D. Publish your work in top quality journals. Step 3: Attend international academic conferences and develop your research network
Step 4: Submit your dissertation and finish thesis defense
Step 5: Have a job market paper (any of your recent work, preferably published work) ready
Step 6: Apply for open positions (Process might involve a Faculty recruitment seminar and/or interview)

After the passing of the IIM Act (2017), IIM-I will give a degree of B.A. (Foundations in management). On completion of 3 years and an MBA degree for the last two years of 5-year IPM Course. Thanks.
