5-year Experience is required in some of the IIMs, as Although GMAT score is important but work experience plays the most important role for admission in executive MBA programs. In fact, many business schools offer MBA admission without GMAT score if candidates have a good number of years as experience.

According to the IIM admission criteria 2019-21, candidates appearing for CAT 2018 must have a Bachelors Degree with at least 50 per cent marks (for General category) and 45 Percent (for SC, ST and PWD category) or equivalent CGPA from any recognised university.Candidates appearing for their final year Bachelors degree examination may also apply.
It is important to know that the admission criteria of each IIM is independent to mandate their own eligibility criteria including CAT score, academic cut-offs, past academic performance, relevant work experience etc.
Thank you

There is no minimum work experience requirement for IIMS. Every year, a lot of fresher's also make it to IIMS.
It is mainly the weightage on the CAT score. You might get preference on Work Experience. For Example - here is the selection criteria for IIM Bangalore for 2018:
IIM Bangalore
Overall CAT 2018 percentile: 90
Sectional CAT 2018 percentile: 80 for Quant and DILR and 85 for VARC
Weight to CAT 2018 score: 40%
Weight to Academic profile: 50%
Weight to Academic diversity: Clubbed with Academic Profile
Weight to Work Experience: 8%
Weight to Gender Diversity: 2%
Thank you.

Mostly placements are somewhat same or less than doing the graduation and PG from different colleges.
