For admission in IIMS for Ph.D you need to have either CAT/ GMAT/ GRE/ GATE/ UGC-JRF score.

For old IIM, it is over. But, still if you have cleared the cut off of new IIM, then there are chance that you will get the call, as they usually call after March or mid-march and some IIM calls even in April also.

Hi,
CAT percentile between 80 to 90 can be a tricky situation. While you get optimistic to see yourself placed in the top range of CAT takers, the reality check of not being able to make it to the old IIMs also strikes soon. Since the old IIMS or IIM black exhaust the shortlist by 98-100 percentile, there is hardly any chance for CAT takers securing 80 to 90 percentile to get a call from old IIMs. Despite performing well in CAT, you suddenly realize that you are not good enough for your dream destinations to spend the next two years. But, rather than losing hope, you should look at the brighter side that there are several top B-schools

There is no steadfast rule as such for selection. But, if you have 90% above in class 10th and class 12th, you will get maximum marks for that section, and even if you have decent CAT score, you can convert them. If you have great CAT scores based on category, 80% above in both class 10th and class 12th will suffice.
