According to the previous year's cutoff percentile of various IIMs, you need to score at least 80 percentile in CAT to get admission. The previous year's cut-off score of some top IIMs for reference is as follows:
1. IIM Ahmedabad: 80 percentile score
2. IIM-Calcutta: 85 percentile in CAT
3. IIM Indore: 90 percentile score
4. IIM Tiruchirappalli: 93 percentile score
5. IIM Rohtak requires a 95 percentile score. You can find the cut-off percentile in the top IIMs on this Shiksha page: https://www.shiksha.com/mba/cat-exam-cutoff.

CAT is an exam where students score an enviable 100 percentile as well. It is not essential to get a 100% but then 99 percentile is the score that is the minimum qualifying criteria if you want to get into an IIM. It is the numbers that play an important role, and the language turns out to be the weakness.

The candidates need to have their Bachelor's degree completed with a minimum score of 50 percent aggregate. The reserved category receives a 5 percent relaxation in the minimum aggregate marks required. The candidates need to have their own business or work in a company at the moment when they apply.

Yes, it is normal. Many people in the past have taken a drop of 6 to 10 months for CAT Preparation and have made it successfully to top IIMs. So, you are not the first one to do so. Just stay focused during the gap period, prepare well and score high. If there is a gap of one or two year between your graduation and CAT but I will suggest you that please utilize this gap, try to do something else as well with the preparations of CAT exams. It should not be a problem as long as you can justify the gap.

It depends if you are belong to OBC, SC and ST, you can easily get the admission. But if you are from general category, it is so much difficult to get into black IIM and new IIM. Baby IIM could be a possibility.
