Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) ask for a minimum of 60% marks in your bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering branch. You need to work hard for your final BTech/B.E exams and make sure you get at least 60% marks overall, to be eligible for admission to the IITs in India. The competition is very high there, given their status and All-India ranking in India, and hence, their minimum marks requirement is also of a certain standard as compared to other universities that may consider you for admission with 50 to 60% marks in graduation as well.

As a B.Sc. Biophysics student, you may be eligible for M.Sc. Physics or M.Sc. Biotechnology programs at IITs, depending on their specific eligibility requirements. Here's a breakdown for both: M.Sc. Physics at IITsEligibility: Most IITs require a Bachelor's degree in Physics or a related field such as B.Sc. in Physics, B.Sc. in Mathematics, or B.Sc. in Applied Physics. Since your degree is in Biophysics, you may meet the requirements if your curriculum includes sufficient physics content, such as mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum physics.

You are ineligible for admission to NITs and IITs, JEE Mains and Advanced, and the West Bengal board if you failed Physics in your Higher Secondary (HS) test. The three subjects of physics, chemistry, and mathematics must be passed to be eligible for these tests and institutions. You have to pass your Physics exam, which you can do by retaking it or by taking extra tests. Following your successful completion of Physics, you can apply to NITs or IITs for engineering degrees by taking the JEE Mains and Advanced exams.

Not only do your board exam results matter, but also your JEE Main and JEE Advanced scores determine your eligibility for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. To be eligible, you must, however, have received at least a 75% (65% for SC/ST applicants) in your 12th board test, or rank in the top 20 percentile of your local board. Your WBCHSE score of 280 out of 500, or 56%, would not meet this requirement.
