No, the eligibility criteria for admission to IITs and NITs is based on the JEE-Main score and in IITs on the basis of JEE-Advance score. There is no percentage criteria for this session i.e. 2023-24. So as long as you fulfill the eligibility criteria for JEE-Main and JEE-Advance, you should be eligible for admission to IITs and NITs¹.

Aspirants who have completed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate in PCM are eligible to pursue B.Tech courses. IIT Dharwad requires applicants to take standardised entrance exams such as the Joint Entrance Examination JEE Main and the JEE Advanced. The scores from these exams and the applicant's class 12th scores are used to determine eligibility and ranking for admission into the B.Tech programme.

To take admission in MS by Research programme at IIT Palakkad, the candidate must have qualified GATE/ UGC/ CSIR NET exams along with a Master's degree in Engineering/ Technology or a Master's degree by research in Engineering/ Technology with a good academic record.

Hello SSD, this question keeps cropping up again and again in different forums and even in the courts of law. However at least till now all the challenges to this rule of 75% in board has with held and continuous to rule the roost. This rule is in vogue for many years now and it was relaxed only during the covid times when normal schooling was disrupted due to the pandemic. There are many cases when students have scored quite handsomely in JEE Mains but they have failed to secure 75% marks in there 12 board and as a result they were unable to compete in JEE Advanced examination. There are 2 criteria for NITs, IIITs, IITs, and GFTIs. First: You need to have at least 75% in your respective board exam. Second: You need to meet the top 20 percentile criteria. If you meet any one of these criteria, you are eligible. Now the Question arises What is the top 20% percentile? The top 20 percentile means you must be in the top 20% scorer in your board exam. Now next question arises how will you know whether you are in the top 20% of your board?
