IIT Guwahati offers a full-time MA programme lasting two years. To be eligible for MA admission, candidates must have completed their graduation in any discipline from a recognised university. To be eligible, they must have scored a minimum of 60% aggregate in their graduation. Additionally, they must present the relevant documents to prove their eligibility at the time of admission. The selection is based on the scores obtained in the accepted entrance examination.

Candidates with BTech or BE/ MCA/ MSc/ Graduation (AMIETE) with 60% aggregate or 6.0 CPI are eligible for the M.Tech in IIT Guwahati. Further, there is 0.5% CPI or 5% marks relaxation for SC/ST/PwD category candidates. Candidates must also have valid score in the national level exam GATE exam and they must also participated in the COAP Counselling (GATE not required for the sponsored category).

Bachelor's degree (four-year) or equivalent qualification in Design/ Engineering/ Architecture/ Interior Design or any other Design-related field with a minimum of 6.0 CPI on a 10-point scale or 60% aggregate is the basic eligibility for the MDes programme offered at IIT Guwahati.
