The total tuition fee for M.Tech ranges between INR 1.1 Lacs - INR 1.7 lakh for Regular/QIP Students/Self-financed/Sponsored Students (Part-time/Full-time) who are serving as Teachers. In order to get admission to IIT Guwahati M.Tech course, candidates must apply and appear for GATE entrance exam. The GATE application process for IIT Guwahati admission 2024 has begun. Candidates seeking for appearing in GATE 2024 must apply till Sep 29, 2023. Further, the applications with late fees will remain open till Oct 13, 2023. Candidates can visit the official website of GATE to apply for the exam before passing the deadline. 

The selection criteria for the M.Tech programme offered at IIT Guwahati comprises a valid GATE score followed by COAP counselling. Aspirants with a valid BTech or BE/ MCA/ MSc/ AMIETE degree with 60% aggregate or 6.0 CPI can apply. The GATE application process is carried out online (gate.iitk.ac.in). Applications must be submitted within the due date. The GATE application fee for boys is INR 1,700, INR 850 for girls, and INR 850 for SC/ST/PwD category students.

The total tuition fee for the full-time BTech programme offered at IIT Guwahati is INR 8 lakh. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories are exempted from paying tuition fees. Further, the total course fee will include other components such as one-time admission fee (non-refundable), refundable caution deposits (refundable), annual insurance premium, and other important charges. NIRF ranked IIT Guwahati 7 under the “Engineering” category in 2023. According to media reports, a total of 712 students were placed till Dec 6 during IIT Guwahati placements 2024. Further, the highest international and domestic package offered during IIT Guwahati placements 2024 stood at INR 2.05 Crore per annum and INR 1.20 Crore per annum, respectively.

The cutoff trend for B.Tech at IIT Guwahati - Indian Institute of Technology has been increasing in the recent years. In 2022, the closing rank for B.Tech. under general category for all India quota was 7859. In 2023, it increased to 8453. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 3065 to 3376 for OBC, 1640 to 1842 for SC, 619 to 585 for ST, 1362 to 1329 for EWS. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. IIT Guwahati will release 6 rounds of JEE Advanced cutoffs for admission to B.Tech. The cutoffs will be released on a rolling basis, and the seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The cut off rank in Round 6 for B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering is 5959 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increases your chances of getting admission in IIT Guwahati - Indian Institute of Technology.

The year 2023 cutoff ranks for B.Tech. in Biosciences and Bioengineering at IIT Guwahati - Indian Institute of Technology other than General category are - 4240 for OBC, 2559 for SC, 1232 for ST, 1763 for EWS. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE Advanced, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female.
