The eligibility criteria for MSc course at IIndian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is that candidate should have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate. Moreover, candidates should have passed graduation with a minimum of 50% aggregate. The IIT Madras MSc admissions is based on entrance exam.Candidates seeking admission at IIT Madras are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. For example, for BTech, candidates are required to apply for JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced application. Similarly, for the MSc, IIT JAM application form is required to be completed.

The minimal eligibility requirement for General category candidates seeking admission to IIT Madras' M.Tech programme is a 60% aggregate graduation mark. Candidates must additionally pass the GATE exam with a valid score in order to be eligible. The board creates a merit list based on the GATE score, and seats are subsequently offered to candidates based on the institute's seat availability.
