IIT Madras provides hostel facility both for boys and girls. It has 19 hostels, out of which four are for girls and 15 are for boys. The facilities of the hostel include sports, music rooms, tech rooms, and a TV room. It also has a garden and a library.

IIT Madras B.Tech admissions are based on JEE Advanced scores. Though, the institute records high cutoffs every year, with adequate preparation anyone can seek admission. Candidates need to be thorough with their Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus with proficiency in Science and Mathematics to crack the exam.

IT Madras provides more than 25 scholarships which are based on the financial situation of the students or their academic performances. To avail these scholarship benefits, all the interested and eligible students need to download the respective application forms through the IIT Madras official website and submit the same to the academic section.

According to the NIRF 2023, IIT Madras ranked is 1 while IIT Bombay ranked 3 in the Engineering category. Also, considering the placement 2023 report, the highest package offered at IIT Madras was also INR 1.31 crores and also 25 offers were of packages above INR 1 crore per annum whereas the highest package offered at IIT Bombay was INR 1. 31 crores per annum.
