The institute has also opened its B.Sc. In Programming and Data Science programme to class 11, 12, and working executives (taking break from their career). This will provide school students an opportunity to secure a seat at IIT Madras while still in school. Candidates selected for admissions will attend 4 weeks of training, including video lectures, assignments, discussions and live interactions. There is no seat limitation for the programme. Cutoff for ST/SC is about 30%, OBC 45%, general 40%.

You cannot get a degree without paying any fees at IIT Madras. However, there are certain scholarships and fee waivers that can help you cover your course fees. The following are some of the scholarships:
1. Merit-Cum Scholarship and Free Education: You get a 67% fee exception if your parent's income is Rs. 4.50 Lacs and your GPA is above 5 each semester.
2. Girish Ready Scholarship: This scholarship is given based on JEE ranks, with a minimum GPA of 8 in each semester. You can renew it each year. Your parents' income must be less than Rs 5 Lacs to be eligible.
3. M. Sankaraiah and M. Saradha (Mithigiri) Scholarship: You can get Rs. 20,

Marks in JEE Advanced do not decide the stream you choose, the rank does. Last year paper was so easy that the people who got 50 to 60% marks did not get a reasonable rank but the paper of 2016 was very hard and scoring more than 50% got students AIR under 2000. So the rank will be decided on the basis of difficulty level of the paper. Between CSE in IIT Bombay closes at around AIR 68. So if you want the best branch in the best college, better start working very hard.
