Although the seats are limited, teaching faculty for Engineering Physics is excellent in the IITs. The placement record for this engineering branch is also good in the IIT Madras. After finishing Engineering Physics from one of the IITs, scholars have immense job opportunities. Selection in IIT placements means a job in best companies and excellent remuneration package. Engineering Physics degree holders from IITs are evolved in research and development activities. They are usually hired by different industries like telecom, microelectronics, lasers, and micro-devices, etc. This a searchable branch, so you always have an option of higher studies.

Aerospace start-ups and consultancies in the country come for placements too. CFD and FEA profiles are well in demand. Flight mechanics, controls, combustion and thermal engineering also come up occasionally. However, IIT-Kanpur is a bit different from most other IITs in terms of academics. Our grading system goes 10, 8, 6, 4, 2. In most other IITs it is something like 10, 9, 8, 7 That automatically means that if the professor doesn't think you deserve A, you get 8 in IITK and 9 in most other IITs. This worsens as the grade drops to C or D. This puts us at a disadvantage. Also, it is said (I can't verify this) that IITK was built more around research and thus they have higher standards and expectations. As a result, academics at IITK are considered tough.

In the 2017 year, IIT Madras provide a good placement for students. IIT Madras witnessed a decent increase in the salary packages of the student graduating from the reputed institute. Despite of being one of the most coveted engineering colleges of India, the institute has not lost its sheen in proving best management education and skills to the MBA aspirants. With IIT madras, the internships provided here are very minimal for this specialisation specifically and The Placements for Aerospace is bit mediocre since, not all students get exact core opportunities in Defense, aeronautical space, hence, does not have edge over IIT madras.
