In 2024, the IITs are offering a total of 17,740 seats across various courses and categories through JEE Advanced 2024. With 48,248 candidates qualifying for IIT admissions this year, the number of aspirants exceeds the available IIT seats by almost threefold.Compared to the previous year, the number of seats in the IITs has increased by 355 seats. Among the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology, IIT Kharagpur leads with 1,899 seats, followed by IIT BHU with 1,589 seats, IIT Bombay with 1,368 seats, IIT Roorkee with 1,353 seats, and IIT Kanpur with 1,210 seats.

The definition of godd IIT can be relatable. The candidates who wish to get admisison to the first generation of the IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee must have a high score of 250+ marks out of 360 marks. However, this is not applicable for all courses offered by these IITs. Every course and IIT has different demand and seat ratio which effects the admission of the cabdidates.
