You see always IITs are in top, then followed by NITs. So, In order to get admission in IITs you need to write JEE Mains + JEE Advanced to get admission. If it's NITs you just need to appear for JEE Mains. After clearing and getting a good rank in those entrance tests you can select the best IIT or NIT based on your eligibility and interest.

The registration for JEE advance has ended today at 5:00 pm. It was stated on 3 May and ended on 9 may. This was only for those who are going to appear for JEE advance. If you are asking for JEE Mains exam, then application for that will start in September 2019. Best of luck.
