Physics, Chemistry and Maths are a must for any board you are studying in. And you shouldn't be waiting till after grade 12 for preparing for IIT, you should start straight away by looking at the content of the JEE examination and studying yourself/in a coaching class. Also, it is imperative you do extremely well in 12th boards as those scores along with your JEE Mains score will determine if you can appear for the second round of testing, I. e JEE Advanced. Good Luck preparing for them.

Once the exams are done, IIT JAM releases separate IIT JAM cut off marks for General, OBC and SC/ST students. Cut off for IIT JAM 2019 is decided on the basis of the difficulty level of exam, number of vacancies available, total number of student appeared, previous year IIT JAM cut off and average marks obtained by candidates in IIT JAM. Based on IIT JAM Result, candidates are then admitted to Institutes according to the preference of choices filled by them in Admission Form.

No, it is not always important. It depends upon your skills and hard work. But, still most of the times it is seen that B.Tech students get better offers.

Hello Roshni,
It is indeed great to hear from you, such an interesting query. IIT's are definitely in a different league altogether. They get cream of students and as a result different companies flock to them for recruitment. In the next rung are many institutions. Colleges with NAAC A grading cones next. Hence, I feel it will be great to get degree from NAAC A if not from IIT. Best wishes to you.
