Hello Subham,
Past academic achievement does not guarantee you a seat in IIM But yes they matters in overall selection procedure. First you have to score 99+ percentile in CAT and have to perform well in GD and PI to get into IIM A/B/C. Getting a call from an IIM is not a big deal but converting it is herculean task. Just focus on your studies from 2nd year, and after 3rd year you can join coaching for GATE preparation, specially focus on discrete maths, data structures and computer organization and architectures. (COA). And, perform well in GATE.

Hi,
The GATE cut off is depends upon various factors as listed below and varies yearly and institute wise. The following factors will be considered during the preparation process of GATE cutoff for IITs and NITs:
1. Number of applicants for the specific course
2. Previous years cutoff trend
3. Difficulty level of the examination
4. Number of seats available for the course
Further the GATE score above 600 is good enough for getting admission in NITs, and IITs. In ECE branch.
