You can definitely get admission in IITs since they treat Diploma as equivalent to 12th. However, unfortunately, NITs don't. Then many state government's have also declared Diploma as equivalent to 12th which makes you eligible. You can find information about your state on the webpage of DTE of education of your state.

managerial work-ex, specifically IT is not relevant work-ex for MBA. You will get some points for your work-ex however. Anyways, if you are a General Engineer, you will need to target 99.9+ percentile in CAT. Also, don't restrict your options to just IIMs. There are some amazing non-IIM Schools also in India that you could apply to - FMS, MDI, IMTG, SP Jain, XLRI, XIMB, JBIMS, NITIE, IIFT NMIMS, SIBM, etc.

^click on "online registration and choice filling"
^login with your application no, password, and other details. ^Now you have to select you desired Branches in Desired colleges and arrange them in the order of your preference. E, g
If I have interest in ECE, CSE, and civil engineering in the same order, then I would select the option. "ECE in NIT HAMIRPUR" and place it at 1st position
"CSE in NIT HAMIRPUR" place it on 2nd position
"Civil in NIT HAMIRPUR" place it on 3rd position

Damn the new IITs. They don't even have their own campus yet. Either they have borrowed someone else's or they are arranging different activities at different places. Trust me you miss out on a lot of things that way. I have friends who have regretted their decisions.
