Yes, if you don't want to take up B.Tech, you can choose BCA or B.Sc (computer science) from a reputed college in India like Christ University (Bangalore), or some other universities.

Hello A G,
IIT's are the premier engineering instituions of India. Best of the mind gets selected via a very rigorous admission process. This in turn leads to very high caliber students. This in turn leads to these students occupying important positions across different companies and institutes. Thus a fantastic network gets established which is ever eager to help another IITian.

Hello Akash,
For admission into M.Sc programs at IITs, you need to clear IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc). The admission is done through that exam only.

Hello Rohit,
That is not actually the case. They say so because the older IITs are already well established than the new ones. They have shown better results, placement records and rankings too.
But the new IITs do require some time to establish themselves and to attain the reputation of the older ones. It is not that they are not good, it is that they are not preferable in comparison with older ones.
Anyways, all these are government institutions and so you need to hesitate to go for them as they will be better in all aspects.
