Yes, it is mandatory for a candidate to register through the official JoSAA 2024 online portal to be able to obtain seats to be allocated through JoSAA 2024 in any of the IITs, NITs, IIESTs, IIITs, and Other-GFTIs.

COAP registration portal is only for IITs. COAP, Common Offer Acceptance Portal provides a common platform for the candidates to seek admission into M.Tech programs in the IITs on the basis of GATE score.

IIT Goa is not classified as a Tier 1 college. It is not ranked by any ranking body currently. The opening and closing ranks for BTech in Mathematics and Computing Engineering at IIT Goa for the General category under All India were 5214 and 5555 respectively. IIT provides various courses of different specialisations such as Engineering, Arts, and Science while IIIT mainly focuses on imparting education related to IT and CS fields. Both institutes are considered top Engineering colleges. However, IIT does have a better campus environment due to the presence of different specialisations offered by the institution. Additionally, IITs have 23 institutes while IIITs have 25.

Case I: Candidates graduating / graduated from IITs who have a valid GATE score (2024 and/or 2023 and/or 2022) and intend to apply for the Admission in the participating Institutes, then the candidate should register at COAP 2024 with their valid GATE score (s).Case II: Candidates graduating/ graduated from IITs with B.Tech. Degree and having CGPA (cumulative grade point average) of 8.0 (on a scale of 10) and above can directly apply to the respective Institutes for M.Tech. Admission. They should not register at COAP.
