Drop is not necessary step for IITs. Many IITians haven't taken any step. If your focus on your goal is clear then you can also clear IIT JEE without drop.
Your concepts must be clear whether you take a drop or not.

Hello Sonu,
These days admissions are strictly done on the basis of other entrance exams. Without this evil, there is normally no admission in engineering colleges. Depending on your rank, you will get the college. The best colleges are NITs.
