IIT Dharwad offers BTech specialisations in seven streams, including Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics & Computing, Chemical & Biochemical Engineering, and Civil & Infrastructure Engineering. All candidates have to appear for the entrance and fulfillment of eligibility criteria for confirmed admission into any of the mentioned specializations. There are 20 seats available for students with different social categories. Admission to these seats will depend solely on the GATE score and must meet the eligibility criteria. At least 60% of the total seats will be allocated to students with a background in Mechanical Engineering and who have taken the ME paper. The remaining 40% of seats may be filled with candidates who have a non-ME background. Two seats are available for supernumerary candidates who hold a BTech or equivalent degree from IITs or a BS degree from IISc, and have a minimum CPI/CGPA of 8.0 on a scale of 0-10. Candidates who hold a B.Tech. or equivalent degree from IITs or a BS degree from IISc and have a minimum CPI/CGPA of 8.0 on a scale of 0-10 for supernumerary seats are not required to have a valid GATE score. Instead, their selection will be solely based on their CPI/CGPA.
