Even after doing B.Sc. Or B.Tech, you won't get a job in shipping companies if you are not sponsored. Getting sponsored means, getting passed in shipping companies exams which they conduct before the IMU exam. Now you have 2 choices wait 6 months and then fill forms of shipping companies to do DNS or do B.Tech from private colleges like Tolani as there are chances you will get a job. If you can wait for 6 months. You can go to websites of shipping companies like Anglo Eastern, M.Sc. Wallem ship management, Fleet management etc. And fill their entrance test form. They take your interview and medical and give u admission in their own colleges. Please do not take admission in IMU before being sponsored by a company. You will waste your fees and then spend lacs on agents who will send you to Gulf.

It seems from your rank that you were in waiting list if you are taking admission you should opt for IMU Kolkata otherwise the colleges are not so good. IMU Kolkata being the government college will be fine otherwise you should go for private college like Tolani but before making any decision gather some information about colleges and their placements. In my opinion you must visit the college once and take view of scenario there. You might have a chance in more reputed colleges if you have any reservation criteria else give it a try.
