The selection of candidate is based on an all India order of merit based on their performance in Stage-I, II, III & IV and meeting the laid down medical standards during medical examination and the number of vacancies available for the post. Clearing of Stage-I, II, III, IV and satisfactory performance in training is compulsory for recruitment in ICG. All candidates will be compulsorily subjected to identity check prior commencement of the examination of Stage- I, II, III of CGEPT.

Indian Coast Guard Navik educational qualification for DB is that candidates must have passed Class 10th from any educational board recognised by the Council of Boards of School Education in India.

Indian Coast Guard Navik age limit for DB is 18-22 years (5 Years relaxation for SC/ST, if the posts are reserved for them and 3 Years for OBC, if the posts are reserved for them). Candidates falling under the age limit can apply for the exam.

The educational qualification prescribed for Indian Coast Guard Navik recruitment is that candidates must have passed Class 12th with Maths And Physics from any Education Board recognised by Council of Boards of School Education. It is important to secure passing marks in Maths and Physics.

Indian Coast Guard age limit for Navik General Duty is 18 to 22 years. 5 years relaxation is given to SC/ST candidates,  if the posts are reserved for them and 3 Years for OBC, if the posts are reserved for them. EWS candidates will not get any age relaxation. Even if there is no vacancy reserved for SC / ST / OBC (Non - Creamy) / EWS category candidates, such candidates can still apply. However, they will not be eligible for any age and passing marks concession / relaxation etc. SC / ST candidates are exempt from payment of application fee even in such case.

The candidates who clear Stage-III are required to undergo a special medical examination at Base Hospital, New Delhi. Candidates declared unfit in Special Medical Board (SMB) will be included in the merit list as they have the option to appeal the verdict and will report for appeal medicals at designated service hospital within 42 days of completion of SMB. If declared unfit during appeal medicals, such candidates have the option to request the Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) through Directorate of Recruitment, Coast Guard Headquarters for review of the results. The candidates qualifying for Stage-III will be intimated on completion of stage-II at respective centres. The schedule of Stage-III will be intimated to the candidate on personal Login IDs. The FSB call up letter along with reporting instructions will be intimated to candidates on personal Login IDs.
