Yes, IIT BHU offers Merit-cum-Means scholarships to 25% undergraduate students. Besides, there are several endowment scholarships offered by the Institute. Some other facilities are also provided to undergraduate students in the form of Institute free studentship, scholarships, reimbursement of mess charges and pocket allowances to the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. All the students (non-sponsored) admitted to M.Tech or MPharm programmes are provided financial assistance equivalent to the Junior Research Fellowships. IIT BHU is a government institute. IIT BHU was founded in 1919 as Banaras Engineering Colleges, later on, it was established as IIT BHU in 2012. IIT BHU admits students on the basis of various national-level exams such as JEE Advanced, JEE Main, NATA, IIT JAM, etc. The institute has 15 departments and 3 schools through which it offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral-level courses in Engineering, Architecture, Science and Pharmacy streams.

Yes, IIT BHU is recognised by UGC and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). IIT BHU has been ranked 15 by NIRF 2023 under the Engineering category. The college is also ranked 531 by QS World University Rankings 2025. The institute has 15 departments through which it offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral-level courses in Engineering, Architecture, Science and Pharmacy streams. Admission to all these courses is based on various national-level entrance exams such as JEE Advanced, JEE Main, NATA, IIT JAM, etc.

The cut-off rank in Round 6 for B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering is 6694 which is very close to this range. This was for the general category under the All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut-offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increase your chances of getting admission to IIT BHU, Varanasi - Indian Institute of Technology.

The year 2023 cutoff ranks for BTech in Electronics Engineering at IIT BHU, Varanasi - Indian Institute of Technology other than General category are - 1374 for OBC, 926 for SC, 443 for ST, 472 for EWS. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE Advanced, the last cut-offs also change a lot depending on the All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female.
