Yes it is possible if you score in the GATE exam in Material Science or other related fields like Biotech, Chemical Engineering and so on, you can apply for M.Tech in Material Science at IIT Bombay even if you have done your B.Tech in Biotechnology. At IIT Bombay, students from all the engineering disciplines can opt for Material Science. Candidates must fulfill other criteria as well to get admission through GATE. To be eligible for the JEE Advanced exam and get admission to IIT Bombay, you need to meet the following criteria:You should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) exam for the first time in either 2018 or 2019.You should be in the top 2,45,000 rankers in JEE Main 2019.You should have been born on or after October 1, 1994. Admission to BTech courses in IIT Bombay is subject to fulfiment of the eligibility requirements for JEE Main and JEE Advanced. The students who have passed Class 12 in Science stream with at least 75% aggregate (65% aggregate for SC/ST/PwD) are eligible to apply. Candidate should have passed the qualifying exam from a recognised board. In addition, it is also crucial that the applicant hold the relevant documents as a proof of eligibility.

Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree (BA/ BCom or other degrees) or a four-year BA, BS, BTech or an earlier postgraduate degrees such as MA, MSc, etc. with a minimum of 60% aggregate for GN/ EWS/ OBC (NC) and 55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD can apply for MA by Research. A minimum of Class 12 is required to apply for BDes course at IIT Bombay. Below is the detailed eligibility:Candidates should have been born on or after Oct 1, 1999., if belonging to Open/ EWS/ OBC-NCL Category and on or after October 1, 1994, if belonging to SC, ST or PwD Category.Aspirants should have obtained a rank in UCEED.
